Monthi Fest and Konkani Utsav was celebrated by Mangalorean Konkani Catholics from Chikmagalur & Hassan districts at Basrikatte on Sunday, September 17th. Under the banner of Konkan Rakan Sanchalan (R.), it’s Basrikatte Unit had organised this event which was held at Bilalkoppa Himagiri Estate Home Stay premises.

The event began with holy Mass at 10 am. Fr Richard Coelho led the Eucharistic celebration. Cultural and entertainment programmes were held with participation from many Parish units, individuals and professionals.

Peter Alwyn DSouza welcomed and compered the programme. Divita DCunha presented welcome dance. Celebrity dancer Ramona Pereira and Avil DCruz’s Urban Group from Kulshekar also elated the gathering with their stunning performances.

Local MLA T.D. Rajegowda was felicitated during stage programme. Secretary Vivian DSouza presented annual report. On behalf of KRS and the Community he urged the MLA to help in getting land for proposed Konkani Bhavan. Replying to honour, Rajegowda stressed on the need of being united and said, only if a community is organised it will be recognised by the society, mainly by political system. He assured help to get the property for Konkani Bhavan.

President Jockim DSouza, Proprietor of Himagiri Home Stay Pramod Pinto, Honourary President Cyril Rebello, Treasurer Sylvester Saldanha, Stany DSilva, Vice President of Basrikatte Church Sharon DCuna and others were present. Programme ended with lunch, which was prepared by the members of community.
