Mangalore: CASK Centenary Trust & Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) disbursed 30 Lakhs worth of Scholarships to 316 students of all faiths and religions. This program was held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at St. Sebastian Centenary Auditorium, Bendore.

Patron of CASK, Bishop of Mangalore Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was the president this program. Renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Micheal DSouza was the chief guest. Managing Trustee of CASK Centenary Trust & President of CASK Captain Vincent Pais welcomed the gathering.

Michael DSouza gave the students an inspiring and influential speech. He taught them the need of studying diligently in order to have a great future and emphasised the need to never let small setbacks depress them.

Ulhas Rasquinha, coordinator of the scholarship distribution program spelt out the criteria on the scholarships. Low economic status of the students and their families was main criteria and all 316 beneficiaries were from marginalised and distressed families, he added.

The students received the scholarship from Bishop and the other sponsors and endowment donors. Bishop inspired pupils to write their own success stories later on. He also commended contributors for their kind contributions to the underprivileged and in need.

Two students on behalf of all students who received scholarships acknowledge and expressed gratitude. One was Immanuel Goveas, who had lost both his parents during Covid. His younger brother Dominic was by his side and presented roses to all the dignitaries.

A displaced student from Manipur also conveyed her gratitude and debt, saying that the scholarship had helped her a great deal in spite of her difficult circumstances.

Dr. Anand Pereira, Secretary of CASK Centenary Trust & CASK, expressed gratitude to all who were responsible and had contributed their time, effort and resources for the noble cause. He also presented vote of thanks. Nayana Fernandes & Ratna Pinto compered the programme.
