AI Training Programme Empowers Catholic Entrepreneurs in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, March 29: A diocesan-level training programme on Artificial Intelligence, organised by ‘Rachana’, Catholic Chamber of Commerce & Industry, was held on 28th March 2026 at St. Sebastian Parish Hall, Bendoor, drawing an encouraging response from the Catholic business community.
The initiative aimed to equip entrepreneurs and professionals with practical insights into AI-driven transformation and its growing relevance in today’s digital economy. Nearly 100 participants attended the session, signalling strong interest in adopting emerging technologies for business growth and sustainability.
Main resource person, AI strategist and cybersecurity expert Leo Victor Zalki underscored the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence across industries. He noted that AI is no longer a concept of the future but an essential tool for modern enterprises. “From automating routine operations to enhancing strategic decision-making, AI is fundamentally reshaping how organisations function” he said. He also highlighted potential cybersecurity risks associated with AI adoption and emphasised the need for responsible and ethical use.
Rev. Dr. Fr. Sudeep Paul, Director of Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education, addressed the ethical and social implications of technological advancement. He urged participants to view Artificial Intelligence not only as a driver of economic growth but also as a means to promote inclusive development and community welfare. Stressing the importance of value-based leadership, he called for a balanced and responsible approach to integrating technology in business practices.
The programme featured interactive sessions that offered practical guidance on how small and medium enterprises can leverage AI tools for marketing, customer engagement, and operational efficiency. Participants actively engaged with the speakers, raising questions on implementation challenges and opportunities within local business contexts.
Organisers said the initiative was designed to bridge the gap between traditional business models and modern technological advancements. “Our objective is to empower our community with the knowledge and skills needed to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving landscape” said president of Rachana.
The training programme was conducted free of cost and was exclusively open to members of the Catholic business community, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to capacity building and community development.
Adding a practical dimension to the programme, Arun Lobo delivered a focused presentation demonstrating real-world applications of AI tools for business operations. He outlined how entrepreneurs, especially in the small and medium sector, can effectively integrate AI into areas such as digital marketing, customer engagement, and workflow automation. His session provided hands-on insights, making complex concepts more accessible to participants.
President Roy Castelino welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource persons. He reiterated the Chamber’s vision of fostering innovation, ethical entrepreneurship, and collaborative growth. Secretary Alron Rodrigues expressed gratitude to the resource persons and participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
The event concluded with participants gaining a deeper understanding of both the opportunities and responsibilities associated with Artificial Intelligence, marking a significant step towards grassroots-level digital empowerment.
