Uganda: Kampala Tulu Koota Celebrates 15th Anniversary
The Kampala Tulu Koota, established on May 29, 2010, celebrated its 15th anniversary in a grand cultural gathering held on August 2, 2025, at the Copear Chimney Hall in Kampala, Uganda. The event was marked by vibrant enthusiasm and a strong sense of community among Tulu-speaking families.
Senior committee member Harish Bhat warmly welcomed all attendees, setting the tone for a memorable evening. Wilfred Barboza delivered an insightful presentation on the Tulu language, script, and the rich cultural heritage of Tulu Nadu, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting native traditions.
The celebration featured a variety of engaging activities, including fun-filled games and cultural performances by both children and senior members. A special highlight of the evening was the lion dance performance, which captivated the audience and added a unique festive flair to the event.
The evening concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing the efforts and talents of participants, followed by heartfelt words of gratitude from committee members Ravi Kiran, Ganesh Suvarna, Richie Karkada and Anand Poojary.
